Latest updates: CII/CPAR adoption and eNotifications

Who has implemented it?
Currently, 33 clinics have implemented the Community Information Integration/Central Patient Attachment Registry (CII/CPAR) initiative and thousands of consult reports have been uploaded to Alberta Netcare.

Early survey evaluation data from the Health Quality Council of Alberta has identified that hospitalists are excited about accessing a snapshot of patient care through the Community Encounter Digests (CED) appearing in Alberta Netcare and using it to inform care in hospitals. As of July, over 43,800 Albertans have a CED in their Netcare record!

Specialists are also pleased with having the ability to upload their consult reports from their community clinic to Alberta Netcare through CII, as previously they were doing this at their AHS clinics. Specialists are finding the uploading process simple and easy from their community clinic electronic medical record (EMR).

e-Notifications
In other exciting developments, QHR Accuro will be tested with the primary care and specialty clinics in September. In addition, next month the first clinics enabled with e-notifications will receive notice in their Healthquest EMR when one of their CPAR paneled patients has an emergency department visit, hospital admission or discharge or day surgery. View more on e-notifications.

Interested specialists using a Microquest, TELUS or QHR EMR should email eHealth Support Services at ehealthsupport@cgi.com to enroll in CII or visit the Alberta Netcare Learning Centre for more information.

Want in on CII? Double-check your Privacy Impact Assessment
To participate in CII, clinics need to be live on Alberta Netcare and have a Privacy Impact Assessment that reflects their current environment. Not sure about your PIA? Find new resources for guidance on updating your clinic PIA in the Netcare Learning Centre.
