Things you can do to receive more patient COVID-19 test results

Technical and other efforts to improve the COVID-19 lab test result routing process are underway to help more results reach primary care providers. With respect to the COVID-19 online assessment/booking tool, there are steps primary care physicians and clinics can take to increase the number of patient test results received:
  • Ensure your physician/clinic name and location are on the COVID-19 online assessment/booking tool provider list and that the information is correct.*
In order for you to be notified of your patient’s test result, the patient must select your name and location when completing the COVID-19 online assessment/booking tool. [Of course, you will also receive COVID-19 results for tests you order.]
  • Message your patient panel, informing them of the importance of selecting you as their primary care provider and your clinic/office location when completing the online assessment/booking tool for a COVID-19 test.
  • Help your patients understand why you need to receive their COVID-19 test results. The benefits are tenfold when primary care providers are involved in Albertans’ COVID-19 care, from reducing the strain on acute care, to improving outcomes for patients.
