HQCA has new family physician practice data available

The newest release of the Primary Healthcare Panel Reports will be available March 17 – and comes with a few notable improvements.

The Health Quality Council of Alberta is expanding the measures that include Patient Health Numbers (PHNs) in the Confirmed Patient List reports. This means physicians can prioritize care for specific patients in their medical home. They can also view the PHNs of patients in their low continuity category.

The report also includes valuable new measures on laboratory utilization rates and sedating medications in older adults.

In addition, the digital format gives physicians tools to dive deeper into their patient data and compare care patterns with peers at a PCN, Zone or provincial level.

“The data can lead to a greater understanding of a physician’s practice, which ultimately will help them to make more informed decisions that support quality improvement,” says Andrew Neuner, CEO of Health Quality Council of Alberta.

Physicians participating in CII-CPAR will not need to upload their panel to the HQCA. Simply request a report (if you have not previously done so) and automatically receive a Confirmed Panel List based on the panel list uploaded to CPAR.

Family physicians who have not yet requested their panel report can visit HQCA.ca to request their data.
