Interruption of January 3 physician claim payments

Alberta Health identified a problem that affected the payment amounts and payment reporting for the January 3, 2020 payment date. As a result, some payment amounts and payment/assessment reporting were not issued.
The majority of the outstanding payments will have been issued with an expected payment date of January 17. Business Costs Program and Rural Remote Northern Program payments related to these missing payments will follow at a later date as well as assessment information for the missing payments.

Please contact the AMA by email (billingadvice@albertadoctors.org) or telephone (780.482.2626) if you require further assistance with unpaid claims.

CII/CPAR: Patient care benefits multiplying as participant numbers climb

The numbers tell the tale. As additional clinics sign on for Community Information Integration/Central Patient Attachment Registry more patient information is available to care providers to help inform their decisions. A significant milestone this month is the launch of the fifth conformed EMR. Your opportunities to participate are now greater than ever.

What is CII/CPAR and how will it enhance patient care?
CII/CPAR, a joint initiative between the AMA, Alberta Health and Alberta Health Services, is the chosen vehicle to integrate community EMRs with two-way data flow. CII/CPAR will enable clinics to identify if patients are paneled to other providers, facilitating a coordinated care management approach to service delivery and achieve better patient, provider and system outcomes.

What are your perspectives on imaging and low back pain?

University of Calgary researchers are looking to interview Alberta family physicians to better understand clinical perspectives related to uncomplicated low back pain imaging. The purpose of this research is to gain a better understanding of factors that influence imaging ordering practices. Research findings will help design better interventions used to optimize recommendations in practice.
Interviews will take approximately 45 minutes, at a location and time of your choice. You will be offered an honorarium for your time.
