Get extended health and dental coverage from the AMA

Now is your opportunity to enroll in our popular AMA Health Benefits Trust Fund. Our annual open enrollment period runs until October 31.

The Fund provides extended health and dental care not covered by the provincial health insurance plan. Depending on your needs, the Fund can cover you and your immediate family and, optionally, your full-time employees as well.

You will not be asked any health questions. Coverage takes effect on the first of the month following receipt of your application.

The Fund has two distinct components to customize your health care plan to suit your needs:

Core Plan – A basic, competitively priced, extended health care and dental plan offering prescription drugs, basic dental, emergency travel and other extended health care coverage (e.g., physiotherapy, hospital accommodation, home nursing, etc.) through Alberta Blue Cross.
Cost-Plus Plan – An optional, self-insured plan to cover eligible health expenses not covered by the Core Plan. You pay no premium to participate and only a small $25 administration fee for each Cost-Plus claim submitted (no limit on the number of medical expenses contained in each claim).

The Fund satisfies Canada Revenue Agency’s requirements for Private Health Services Plans – premiums for the Core Plan and Cost-Plus Plan may be tax deductible as a business expense and do not represent a taxable benefit to you or your employees.
