Medical students say, "Thanks!"
The TD Insurance Meloche Monnex/AMA Medical Student Bursaries help to reduce financial pressure from escalating medical school tuition fees. This is so that every qualified student can afford to attend medical school. Since 2001 the program has awarded $1,845,000.
This year we were fortunate to administer $1,500 bursaries to each 90 well-deserving medical students, and they want to express their gratitude to you!
The bursary program is made possible through a substantial donation by TD Insurance Meloche Monnex and generous physician members, as well as the raised funds from the Annual North/South Doctors' Golf Tournament, which the AMA co-hosts with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta and Canadian Medical Foundation each summer. The 2020 tournament was cancelled due to the pandemic.

AMA staff announcement: Dr. Lyle Mittelsteadt is retiring
Dr. Lyle Mittelsteadt, Assistant Executive Director, Professional Affairs, will be retiring from the AMA effective August 31, 2020.
Dr. Mittelsteadt joined the AMA in 2006, following a successful medical practice of over 30 years mostly in Fort Saskatchewan. Survey Corner
Health care partners and other organizations often seek physician feedback through surveys. This month, the following is available for your consideration:
Evaluating the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the health care workforce
Research study conducted by the University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine.
In many countries, health care workers are being impacted by the pandemic in terms of their work and personal responsibilities, which may differ depending on a person’s identity, roles and relationships. The study hopes to explore the impact and identify learning areas to better inform pandemic health care workforce planning in the future.
Editor's note: "Survey Corner" presents survey requests received and reviewed by the AMA, that may be of interest to our members. We will publish new opportunities as we receive them.
