Specialty Care Alliance Spring Forum
The AMA's Specialty Care Alliance will be hosting the Specialty Care Forum on March 8, one of two meetings this year. The SCF bring together section representatives and focuses on common issues and provides direction on key priority areas. SCA Executive Members are elected at SCF, each September, and represent specialists as a broad group on the SCA.
About
Specialty care physicians are one of the critical players or hubs in Alberta’s health neighborhood and in the delivery of integrated patient care. The SCA was created to foster collaboration and present a unified voice for specialty care physicians in Alberta.
SCA members are chosen from among specialist representatives at Rep Forum, enabling them to represent AMA and all specialists in addressing key priorities and issues, such as improving access to specialty care for Albertans and advocating for health system innovation and improvement. One of the key priorities of the SCA is collaboration with the Primary Care Alliance to improve patient transitions as they move between primary and specialty care.
Another focus for the SCA is bringing the Community Information Integration technology to specialty physicians with community-based practices. CII will ensure specialist consults are available to any health provider by linking the specialist’s EMR directly to Netcare. CII is a no cost, easy way to improve continuity of care and reduce duplicate referrals.
