Help your patients get back to their life after an injury with WCB-AB programs
WCB-Alberta’s Medication Management Program (MMP) and Complex Return-to-work Program both have the same goal: Help injured workers get back to their life after an injury.
Do you want to help your patients eliminate the use of opioids for pain management?
The MMP is an opioid (narcotic) tapering program available at CBI Health Calgary North and CBI Health Edmonton Southwest. This program helps patients reduce or eliminate the use of opioid medication for pain management. If elimination is not possible, the MMP helps the patient reduce the dosage while teaching other methods of pain management. Talk to the claim owner about making a referral for help.
If the physician and worker need to taper medications without the assistance of the MMP, WCB-Alberta can offer additional supports for the worker during the taper such as psychological counseling and occupational therapy.
Is your patient facing a complicated recovery following a work injury?
The Complex Return-to-work Program is designed for people dealing with a long recovery, significant pain and/or psychological distress. A team of specialized clinicians and vocational specialists use a biopsychosocial approach to educate your patient on how to manage their pain, help improve their physical abilities and quality of life.
They will also teach coping skills to manage stress, help improve sleep patterns and encourage healthy lifestyle practices. The program looks at the medical, functional, musculoskeletal, psychosocial and vocational needs of your patient to help them with a safe return to work.
WCB-Alberta can provide support and education when patients who have been hurt at work come to you for pain treatment.
If you would like more information, or to make a referral to one of these programs, please contact your patient’s WCB claim owner.
